Stripchat and BongaCams are both adult (18+) live cam platforms where performers stream and viewers pay for extras with tokens. They look alike at first, but the public sources cover them differently: they document browser-based VR shows for Stripchat, while BongaCams' official model FAQ sets out its paid show types and default per-minute prices in detail. This guide sticks to what those sources say, and tells you where they say nothing.

- Stripchat may suit you if you want VR cam shows that play in a headset's web browser, with no separate app.
- BongaCams may suit you if you like clearly defined show types (group, private, full-private and spy) with documented default per-minute rates in Tokens.
- Either may suit you if you use Lovense toys, because Lovense lists both among its integrated cam sites.
- CamVela may suit you if you just want to browse free public live streams in one place, without an account or buying anything.

Free viewing
Wikipedia describes Stripchat as a Cyprus-based adult website and social network with free live-streamed webcam performances, offered as traditional, virtual reality and mobile broadcasts. Wikipedia's infobox lists registration as optional. DatingScout says only that joining is free and that a free account is enough to watch public streams, not whether you can watch without one. The sources we used also do not say whether free viewing has time limits.
BongaCams has free public chat rooms. Its official model FAQ for performers says the chat is free, so in the free chat performers earn only when members tip. Signing up is free too, and the BongaCash FAQ says members do not need a credit card to register. Wikipedia's article says all site visitors can join chat rooms, while tips come from registered users, but it does not say outright whether watching requires an account.
On both sites, tips and private shows cost tokens; Stripchat also has an optional paid subscription (see below).
How paying works
Stripchat runs on tokens. Viewers buy token packages and spend them on tips, private shows and other paid content. This comes from a third-party review site (DatingScout) rather than from Stripchat itself, and we do not list package prices. The same site also describes an optional paid subscription, Ultimate Membership, with extras such as unlimited private messaging and invisible mode; even with it, tips and private shows still cost tokens. Wikipedia also mentions that Stripchat gave free tokens to new users in 2020. That was a past offer, so do not assume it applies today.
BongaCams also uses Tokens. Each model sets a per-minute price within limits set by the platform. The model FAQ gives these defaults, with the allowed range in brackets:
- Group chat: 30 Tokens per minute (10 to 150)
- Private chat: 60 Tokens per minute (30 to 250)
- Full-private chat: 90 Tokens per minute (30 to 300), with no spy viewers allowed
- Spy mode: 15 Tokens per minute (5 to 80), watch only, no chatting
A private chat ends automatically when the member runs out of Tokens. The BongaModels news page announces occasional Token discounts for members but lists no package prices. These figures are token amounts, not money. Our sources give no price per token for BongaCams. DatingScout, a third-party review site, lists Stripchat token packages, but we do not quote them, and without a BongaCams price the two sites cannot be compared in money.
Shows and features
Stripchat: beyond tips, private shows and other paid content, the sources we used do not detail Stripchat's room features.
BongaCams: the official model FAQ and the BongaModels news page list more:
- Tips and tip menus, plus chatbots in rooms.
- Virtual gifts credited in Tokens, and paid "Sex Questionnaire" questions.
- Photo albums and videos that models sell for Tokens, including recordings of their own streams.
- Follow notifications when a model you follow goes online.
- Member cameras. Members can turn on their own camera for the model to view; the pages we checked do not say who can use this or what it costs.
Interactive toys and VR
Lovense's official cam-model page lists both Stripchat and BongaCams under "Integrated Cam Sites", so tip-activated Lovense toys work on both. On BongaCams, models streaming from the BongaModels mobile app connect Lovense through the Lovense Connect app and the "Sex Toy" chatbot, which adds a Lovense icon to their stream preview; desktop streamers can use the Lovense browser extension. A BongaModels news post from 13 October 2026 says members can instantly see the list of vibrations and send Tokens with one tap.
On VR, the sources only cover Stripchat. According to Wikipedia, Stripchat started VR cam shows in 2019. Wikipedia's VR section, which cites no sources, adds that they play in the headset's web browser through WebXR, for example Meta Quest Browser or Safari on Apple Vision Pro, at vr.stripchat.com, with no separate app. The sources we used do not mention VR for BongaCams.
Which one should you choose?
There is no single winner; it depends on what matters to you.
- For VR: Stripchat offers VR shows, according to Wikipedia; the sources we used don't cover VR on BongaCams.
- For documented show rates: BongaCams' model FAQ gives default per-minute rates and ranges in Tokens for each paid show type, though each model sets its own price.
- For interactive toys: either works with Lovense.
- For signing up: both are free to join. The BongaCash FAQ adds that BongaCams needs no credit card; DatingScout, our source for Stripchat, does not say whether a card is asked for.
- For your language: Wikipedia says Stripchat is available in 20 languages and BongaCams in 34, but it doesn't list them, so check that yours is there.
Whichever you choose, set a budget before buying tokens, because tips and paid shows add up quickly.
Where CamVela fits
