Best Nikon Lens For Moon Photography

Best Nikon Lens For Moon Photography

The Moon is one of the most popular subjects to photograph in the night sky. With its striking surface and changing phases, it’s not hard to see why.

But capturing a beautiful image of our closest celestial neighbor isn’t always easy. You need a long focal length lens for detail, but this can be expensive and bulky. Alternatively, you could use a telephoto zoom lens to get closer to the Moon and capture more detail — or an ultrawide-angle lens if you want to shoot an image with a wider field of view.

If you want to include some foreground elements like trees and mountains in your shot, then you’ll need to use a longer lens. In this case, I recommend using a 400mm or 500mm lens.

If you want to include more than just the moon itself in your shot, then consider using a wide-angle lens such as an 18-35mm or 24-70mm zoom lens. These will allow you to capture more of the night sky around the moon along with any foreground elements that are visible in your composition.

If you want to capture stunning images of the Moon, your best bet would be a long telephoto lens to capture detail and contrast. But if you’re looking for something more portable and affordable, there are plenty of options out there as well! Here is the list of some professional and affordable lenses:

5. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 120-300mm f/2.8E FL ED SR VR

Features

  • Brand: Nikon
  • Lens Type: Telephoto

The VR image stabilization system provides up to 4. 0 stops of shutter speed correction, helping ensure sharp handheld photos and videos when shooting handheld in low light or at long focal lengths. Sports photographers can now shoot at slower shutter speeds without sacrificing image quality or having to resort to using high ISOs, which can cause image noise and reduce dynamic range.

The new lens uses a fluorite element that reduces chromatic aberration, which can occur when using telephoto lenses with narrow angles of view and large magnification ratios, such as this one has. This helps ensure that the resulting images have natural color reproduction and contrast throughout the entire focal length range, even when shooting at wide-open apertures or with subjects closer than infinity. Additionally, fluorite is known for its high refractive index and low dispersion properties, which help improve optical performance by reducing spherical.

6. Sigma 150-600 mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens
